Toronto Mayor Rob Ford owes his supporters a serious explanation over crack cocaine allegations

"Ford was always going to be the fat girl shlepping around Holt’s in vain, wondering where the big sizes are kept.

He was a figure of scorn from the get-go, even before he won the mayoralty. Only a Torontonian would understand the classism in this, but it was enough to say, “He’s from Etobicoke, for Christ’s sakes.”

But crack was never part of the deal."

So says Christie Blatchford. Well I do agree. At this point simple denials won't cut it and none of us will know with certainty until the video is vetted, if it ever is. Now imagine this had been a liberal politician, say someone found naked in a whorehouse, or like Georgie Smitherman, Ford's coke-head opponent in the last election, the same coke-head endorsed by the Star. Would they be the recipient of the same scorn faced by Ford?

Who’s More Dangerous: Sunni or Shia Islamists?

There is a passionate, but somewhat academic debate, over the following issue: Which is the greater threat, the Sunni Muslim Islamists (Egypt, Tunisia, Gaza Strip, and perhaps soon to be Syria) or the Shia Muslim Islamists (Iran, Lebanon, at the moment still Syria)?

I would say the answer would be the Iran-led Shia bloc. But two reservations: the margin isn’t that big and it also depends on the specific place and situation.

Remember Meg Lanker-Simons? Well she's not just a pretty face.

'According to an affidavit, the charge stemmed from an incident in which Lanker-Simons walked into an Albany County radio station she’d been fired from with a Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun.

She confronted a man who had decided to terminate her, the affidavit reports... Lanker-Simons “pulled a semi-automatic pistol from her purse, waved the firearm around and pointed (the) firearm at (the man),” according to the affidavit.

The man, according to the affidavit, said he was “in fear for his life”.

The radio station, the affidavit states, was evacuated.'

Homeland Security guidelines advise deference to pro-sharia Muslim supremacists

The Department of Homeland Security, which under Secretary Janet Napolitano has shown a keen interest in monitoring and warning about outspoken conservatives, takes a very different approach in monitoring political Islamists, according to a 2011 memo on protecting the free speech rights of pro-sharia Muslim supremacists.

In a checklist obtained by The Daily Caller entitled “Countering Violent Extremism Dos and Don’ts” the DHS’s Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties notifies local and national law enforcement officials that it is Obama administration policy to consider specifically Islamic criticism of the American system of government legitimate.

Canadian security investigators probe possible instigators of London terror suspects

OTTAWA—Canadian national security investigators are probing intelligence about figures in London, Ont., who allegedly promoted extreme views of Islam and may have encouraged young Muslim men and converts to go abroad, the Star has learned.

Called Project Scupper, the operation underway since 2011 in southern Ontario is focused on tracking individuals who have since left London—some believed to have travelled to the Toronto area, others who disappeared including three now tied to terrorist activity in northern Africa.

Secret CSIS source cited in Muslim terror case

OTTAWA – An undercover source working for Canada’s spy agency and sensitive intelligence from the United States and Britain helped build the case against three terrorism suspects facing criminal charges, court documents indicate. At least some of that information came from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and the London Metropolitan Police, says an affidavit filed by the RCMP in the Federal Court of Canada.

The records shed new light on the investigation that led to the high-profile 2010 arrests of Misbahuddin Ahmed and Hiva Mohammad Alizadeh of Ottawa, and Khurram Syed Sher, of London, Ont.

Other material was apparently gleaned through the secretive “Five Eyes” eavesdropping network.
